Acolyte

Acolytes are an important part of worship. The word acolyte comes from the Greek word akolouthos, meaning follower, helper, or assistant. By the middle ages, acolytes were a clerical order. Acolytes may have any number of helping functions. They assist in worship by lighting the candles and serving communion. At PHUMC, children who are in 3rd grade and older serve as acolytes.
