Bible Studies

We offer Bible study opportunities year round – both long term and short term. Everyone is encouraged to take a study or lead a study. If you feel God has given you talents for leading a group, please do not be shy. We always need leaders with willing hearts, and we’ll train them.

Disciple Bible Studies are popular. These are weekly classes which meet for 2 to 2 ½ hours for 32 to 34 weeks.

Additionally, seasonal short-term classes are available. These vary from a one-time study to a few weeks in length. ChristCare small groups are also another way to study the Bible.  A big component of every Bible study is the fellowship it offers. It’s a great way to get to know people and study God’s word.

All Bible studies meet weekly during the school year, basically September through May.

Bethel I & II Bible Studies

Bethel I and II are overviews of the Old Testament using creative illustrations and excellent reading materials. Bethel meets weekly for one hour in a lecture format with some student participation. Class size is usually around 10 to 25 members.

Bethel I is a prerequisite for Bethel II.

Disciple Bible Studies

Disciple groups meet weekly for 2 to 2 ½ hours. Each participant makes a commitment to daily preparation and weekly attendance. Disciple classes nourish group members, who usually bond into a real feeling of  “community.”

Disciple I – “Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study”  This study is a complete overview of the Old and New Testaments. It is the foundation course for Disciple II and III.
Disciple II - ”Into the Word, Into the World” This study is an in-depth study of Genesis and Exodus and Luke and Acts. Prerequisite is Disciple I.
Disciple III - ”Remember Who You Are”  This is a close look at the Prophets of the Old Testament and the Letters of Paul. Prerequisite is Disciple I.
Disciple IV, when appropriate and available

Baby Boomer Bible Study - Overview of Old/New Testaments in 14 weeks, 2 hours per week.

Bible & More or Read It Again - For people who have some Bible study background and are interested in an opportunity for more specific studies. These classes meet weekly for two hours.

Christian Believer Class – This class looks at what we believe and why we make our profession of faith with Christians today and from centuries past as stated in the ancient creeds. This study requires a commitment of 45 minutes per day in preparation for a two-hour weekly class.
