The Helping Hands Senior Respite Care Program offers care for senior adults who are receiving assisted living care at home. The program meets weekly on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Clients should have their own transportation to and from the church. The cost is $20 per person per day, to be paid the first of each month. Clients should be continent, non-violent, self-medicating and comfortably able to use a wheelchair or walking device, if needed.
Features of this rich, comprehensive program include the following: constant supervision under trained, devoted volunteers and at least one registered nurse; individualized care plans; a nutritious lunch and morning and afternoon snacks; arts & crafts; current events; singing; devotionals; low-impact exercises; and wonderful Christian fellowship.
Those interested in applying or volunteering should call Cecil Malone, Chair of the Helping Hands Board, 666-7542, or Rev. Lynn Lindsey, Staff Liaison, 664-3600. Visits to the program are encouraged, but reservations are requested.
