Executive Staff

Rev. Britt Skarda

Senior Pastor, Ext. 304 / Contact Me

Rev. Britt Skarda has served as senior pastor of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church since July 2010. He served as Minister of Outreach at PHUMC from 1989-1992, with responsibilities for worship, missions, and evangelism. Other previous pastoral appointments include: First UMC, Springdale, AR, senior pastor (2000-2010); Henderson UMC, Little Rock, AR (1992-2000) and Bearden/Thornton UMC (1987-1989). He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) from The University of Central Arkansas and Master’s of Divinity degree (MDiv) fr0m Duke University, the Divinity School. He is married to Karen and they are blessed with three children (Natalie Staley, Brittany Lord, Peter Skarda) and four grandchildren (Luke, Levi, Jackson, Vivian). Britt enjoys jogging, traveling, reading, and movies.

Britt is responsible for the overall ministries, mission, and vision of the church. He is also the primary preacher for the Sanctuary worship services.

 

 

Trent Hubbard, CCA

Church Administrator, Ext. 308 / Contact Me

Trent Hubbard joined the PHUMC staff as Church Administrator in September 2012. Prior to coming to PHUMC, he was employed with another local United Methodist Church for nearly seven years. Before entering church work, he worked for a local CPA firm. Trent earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics with an emphasis in Accounting, a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and a Master of Arts in Accounting from Hendrix College. In 2014, Trent earned the designation as a Certified Church Administrator (CCA) through Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He is married to Jennifer, and has a son, Zach. In his spare time, Trent enjoys traveling, cooking and reading.

Trent oversees the general operations of the church and provides leadership and direction to ministry areas in order to carry out the mission and vision of PHUMC. He also supervises certain program and administrative staff members.

 

 

Cindy Bowden

Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor & Church Administrator, Ext. 304 / Contact Me

Cindy Bowden joined the PHUMC staff February 1, 1995. She is a graduate of Benton High School and attended University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas/Fayetteville. Cindy previously worked as executive administrator for First UMC Benton, managed a commercial construction company, and was employed as data program operator for Olin Chem. She enjoys spending family time with her son, Josh, two granddaughters, Bree and Blair, and two Shih Tzu’s, Maggie and Gretel. Cindy is active in numerous volunteer opportunities with The Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Robinson Center Performance Hall, and Verizon Arena, along with Alzheimer’s Arkansas. She is also involved in several local and state civic activities and helps to organize and implement community service projects in her hometown. She relaxes with her gardening and decorating, downtown hikes with Little Rock Hikers, and traveling with friends.

Cindy is Executive Assistant to PHUMC Senior Pastor & Church Administrator assisting in the performance of their individual responsibilities. She supervises church events such as the Raney Preaching Series, serves as our wedding coordinator and director, schedules baptisms for families, and helps organize planning for onsite funerals. She has served on building campaigns for the church and participates as a member of the Annual Community Easter Sunrise Committee.

 

Clergy

Rev. Jay Clark

Pastor with Youth & Their Families, Ext. 244 / Contact Me

On staff since 2007, Jay believes in developing disciples through faith formation that allows young people to ask hard questions while caring adults travel with them on the journey. He also believes in leadership development. Jay enjoys spending time with his wife, Karen and son, Quin. He also enjoys travel and live theatre. Jay has served at several United Methodist Churches in Arkansas. He also worked for the New England Conference of the UMC, The Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew UMC in New York City and the Division on Ministries with Young People at the General Board of Discipleship in Nashville. Jay has served on the Arkansas Conference Council on Youth Ministry (1987-1994, 1999-2002, 2007-current). He was also the Director of Youth 2007 at the National United Methodist Youth Event in Greensboro, North Carolina, has taught at Perkins School of Youth Ministry in Dallas, and has served as a delegate to the UM General and Jurisdictional Conferences.

Jay oversees all aspects of phyouth ministries grades 6-12 including our confirmation program for 6th graders.

 

 

Rev. Katye Dunn

Associate Pastor with Youth & Families / Contact Me

Katye returned to the PHUMC staff in July 2016 after serving on the Youth Ministry staff from 2010-2013. She is a life-long member of Pulaski Heights UMC and is passionate about cultivating authentic relationships with young people that move them into deeper love of Christ and a heart that seeks justice for their community and the world. A provisional deacon, Katye is also interested in ministries of compassion and justice, along with ecumenical and interfaith work. She has served on the Arkansas Conference Council on Youth Ministry, as a delegate to the 2016 General Conference, as a student pastor at Urban Village Church in Chicago, Ill., and at The Connectional Table, an agency of The United Methodist Church. She holds a B.F.A. in Dance Performance and a B.A. in Religious Studies from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Tx. and a Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Chicago, Ill.

Katye works alongside Rev. Jay Clark in all aspects of phyouth ministries, focusing particularly on the area of youth missions.

 

 

Dr. Jeffery B. Hampton

Pastor of Congregational Care, Ext. 322 / Contact Me

Dr. Jeffery B. Hampton joined the PHUMC staff in June 1999 and now serves as the Associate Pastor of Caring Ministries. His previous pastoral career includes appointments to: Greater St. Mark AME, Thorton, AR; St. Paul AME, Newport, AR; Ebenezer UMC, Conway, AR; Mount Zion, Center Ridge, AR; Wesley UMC, Morrilton, AR; and McCabe Chapel UMC, N. Little Rock, AR. Dr. Hampton has a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA. He earned a Master’s of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degree from Memphis Theological Seminary. Dr. Hampton and his wife, Cynthia have two daughters, Joya and Cheyanne. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and reading.

Jeff is responsible for the operations of Caring Ministries including support groups and visitation.

 

 

Rev. Jeremy Pressgrove

Associate Pastor of PHUMC, Pastor of St. Luke UMC, Little Rock / Contact Me

Jeremy is the Campus Pastor for St. Luke United Methodist Church, which became a campus of Pulaski Heights in 2017. Jeremy has been the pastor of the St. Luke Campus since 2013. He is responsible for worship, outreach and mission activities at the St. Luke Campus. Jeremy has a M.Div. from United theological Seminary, a BA from the University of Central Arkansas, and an MA from the University of Alabama. He has been married to Heather Pressgrove since 2005, they met when they were both students at the University of Central Arkansas. They have two beautiful little girls, and two standard poodles. Jeremy is a college football fan, and supports his Alma mater, the University of Alabama. He is also a golfer, and enjoying reading. Jeremy’s favorite thing to do is spend time with his family and the Little Rock Zoo is a very popular destination for the Pressgrove family.

 

 

Rev. Belinda Price

Pastor of Welcoming & Spiritual Formation Ext. 313 / Contact Me

Rev. Belinda Price joined the PHUMC staff June 30, 2013. She was previously the Director of Children’s Ministry at PHUMC from 1996-2001. Rev. Price served as pastor at Vilonia UMC in Vilonia, AR for seven years. She earned a B.S.E. from Henderson State University, M.A.I.O.C. from University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Christian Education from Perkins School of Theology, and MDiv. from Memphis Theological Seminary. Rev.. Price is married to Phil Price and has two adult children, Elizabeth and Matt and his wife, Kayce. She enjoys reading and movies.

Belinda is responsible for welcoming, new members, evangelism, and spiritual formation which includes adult Sunday school, small groups, and Bible study.

 

 

Rev. Betsy Singleton Snyder

Pastor of Preaching & Missions, ext. 226 / Contact Me

Betsy Singleton Snyder began her ministry in 1989. She is a graduate of Hendrix College and Perkins School of Theology, SMU. Rev. Singleton Snyder has pastored in a wide variety of church settings and served as a GBGM missionary. Singleton Snyder currently serves on the Little Rock Zoo Foundation; Women’s Advisory Council, UAMS, FASI (Families Are Special Inc.) and is a member of the Congressional Spouses Club, D.C.

She is the author of “Stepping on Cheerios: Finding God in the Chaos and Clutter of Life” (Abingdon Press, 2017), writes a column at Little Rock Family Magazine (Parent-ish), and blogs about spirituality and parenthood at www.WomenadeStand.com. Betsy is the primary preacher for the New Heights worship and oversees PHUMC Missions. She is married to Dr. Vic Snyder, former U.S. Congressman, 2nd District, and is the mother of four young boys, Penn, Wyatt, Sullivan and Aubrey. They have two dogs, two cats, fish and any other bug the boys bring into their house. The family also loves hiking, reading, and movies.

 

 

Kenneth Hicks

Bishop in Residence / Contact Me

Bishop Kenneth Hicks is the spiritual mentor to the PHUMC staff and congregation as a retired bishop of the UMC. He served 16 years as a United Methodist bishop in Arkansas and Kansas. Bishop Hicks joined the Methodist Church in 1946 after which he entered and completed studies at Iliff School of Theology in Denver. Prior to being chosen as a United Methodist bishop in 1976, he served pulpits in Colorado and Nebraska. He is married to Elaine Hicks and has two daughters.

 

Music, Worship & Arts

James Maase

Minister of Music, Arts, & Worship, Ext. 314 / Contact Me

James Maase has served PHUMC since the fall of 1993, first as Associate Minister of Music, Arts, & Worship and organist. He then became the Director of Music Ministries in 1998. Previous appointments have included: University Christian Church, Fort Worth, Texas; Highland Park UMC, Dallas, Texas; and Centenary UMC, Lexington, Kentucky. He obtained education degrees from Texas Christian University and further studies from Southern Methodist University. James enjoys traveling, cooking, and has a great love for animals.

Jim is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating the music, arts, and worship ministries at PHUMC. He is also the director of Adventures in the Arts.

 

 

Stanley Cox

Associate Minister of Music & Arts, Organist, Ext. 303 / Contact Me

Stanley Cox joined the staff in May 2016. He is a native of Memphis, TN and grew up at St. Matthew’s UMC. He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, and he received his Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School in New York, NY. Stan serves as Organist for the traditional worship services in the Sanctuary. He accompanies the Chancel Choir in rehearsals and in worship services. He is a member of the Central Arkansas Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He has two cats, Shelby, and Tinker.

 

 

Trenton Teegarden

Originally from Nashville, TN Trenton’s music ministry career began at an early age and was fostered by his parents, friends, and family. He holds a Bachelor’s in Church Music from Martin Methodist College and a Masters of Music Ministry from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Trenton is married to Jessie Waddell Teegarden who is originally from Little, Rock and is an ordained Deacon in the Arkansas Conference.

Trenton is the worship leader and oversees all music, arts, and worship for the New Heights services.

 

 

Chip Gross

Chip is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating the music, arts, and worship for children grades K-5.

 

 

LaSheena Gordon

Assistant Director of Wesley Kid's Choirs, (501) 978-0534 / Contact Me

LaSheena Gordon is currently the choral director at Dunbar Magnet Middle School. She is also the Assistant Director of the Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church children’s choir. Additional experience as a choral director includes working with the 2012 Pulaski County Youth Services Summer Choir. In 2013, as the interim music director for Mt. St. Mary’s Academy, Ms. Gordon returned as an alum to assist during a difficult transition. During this time, she led the honor’s choir in achieving Superior ratings at the ARKCDA CPAs, as well as, “Best in Class” for the 9th -12th grade Concert Belles, an all girls audition only ensemble. Under Ms. Gordon’s direction, the choir was able to meet their previously scheduled performances including a collaborative concert with the UALR Community Chorus’s production of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, the NutCracker, their school musical, and other performance opportunities.

Born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas Ms. Gordon has attended public and private schools. Ms. Gordon completed her BA of Art at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and will graduate with her MA in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Voice in May of 2016. Ms. Gordon’s passion for teaching is inspired by her 4 children Derrick (18), Breanna (17), Christian (12), and Courtney (8) whom she refers to as her “saving graces”. She is active in her community and has volunteered as a worship leader for Fellowship Bible church, assisted with the production of the Dunbar Community event, led her school choir to tour in nursing homes, and volunteers on the board of directors for the Opera in the Rock.

In a recent collaboration with other local artist, Ms. Gordon was featured as “Miss One/Adapearl” in DRUMMERBOYINFINITY’S production of the Wiz which will return in an encore production on February 28, 2016. In the summer of 2015, she won 1st place in the Alice 107.7 “Oh Say Can You Sing” contest and performed the National Anthem with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. She has continued to flex her wings and perform with Pulaski Heights United Methodist church, Opera in the Rock, local Jazz Artist, and any other musical opportunity where a door can be opened to inspire her students. Her past performance credits include being featured in UALR’s opera productions of The Christmas Box, The Marriage of Figaro, The Four Saints, and HMS Pinafore as well as the Dance and Theater’s production of Chicago. She has also performed with the Memphis Opera Company in its 2012 season production of Die Fledermaus and its 2013 production of Donizetti’s Elisir d’Amore (Elixir of Love). She also performed in the Opera in the Rock’s 2015 production of Mozart’s Magic Flute.

Ms. Gordon believes that our students learn through performance and continues to strive to bridge the gap of diversity in our community by using the discipline of classical technique to help students have more opportunities of performance in non-traditional venues and move beyond being singers to becoming skilled musicians.

LaSheena is responsible for assisting with developing, implementing, and coordinating the music, arts, and worship for children grades K-5.

Cindy Burns

Cindy has been on staff since 2000 and has been working in the area of children’s ministries since 2008. She and her family have been members since moving to Little Rock in 1985. Cindy is married to Kevin Burns and they are the proud parents of Randy, Annie and Adam and grandchildren Jayden, Austin and Brooks. In her free time she enjoys walking, tennis, gardening, playing bridge, Mah Jongg, and hanging out with family and friends. Cindy has a passion for all children having a faith in our awesome God that will last a lifetime and beyond.

Cindy Burns is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating ministry to children and families ages birth through 5th grade.

 

 

Kristie Finney

Kristie joined the PHUMC staff in January of 2002. Prior to coming to PHUMC she volunteered in Children’s Ministry programs with her children as well as with the youth group of her previous church. She attended the University of Arkansas and graduated with a B.A. in Microbiology and has hours towards a Masters Degree in Secondary Education. She is married to Allen Finney. They have two children, Trey and Ashley, as well as a golden retriever named Charlie. Kristie delights in helping children learn how to let the Light of Christ shine through them. She feels that in doing so, they learn to share God’s love with others. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, crafting, and being at the beach.

Kristie is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating ministry for preschool and nursery age ministries.

Courtney CarlLee

Courtney CarlLee has been on staff at PHUMC since 2004. She attended Henderson State University from 1996-2001 and studied education, sports medicine, and life sciences. She received the Arkansas Children’s Program Administrator Certification in 2013. Courtney was previously a classroom teacher. She has one son, Joseph, who is attending Henderson State University. Courtney is married to Ryan McNally. They enjoy traveling, recreation, volunteering in the community, and spending time with friends and family.p>Courtney is the Executive Director of our early childhood learning centers at both campuses and oversees all operations including enrollment, staff development, events, and curriculum planning.

 

 

Yui Lawrence

Communications & Technology

 

Andrea Wymes

Andrea joined the PHUMC staff in September 2011 as our Membership Coordinator. In December 2012, she began a new venture as Director of Communications. She is married to Xavier Wymes and has three lovely girls: Maddasyn, Trinity, and Genesis as well as the family pet, Reece. She enjoys singing and working crossword puzzles.

Andrea is responsible for church communications including The Tower Newsletter, website updates, social media, weekly e-news, and print publications.

 

 

Brennen Boose

New Heights AV Team Leader / Contact Me

Brennen is a fun loving artist, who tries not to take himself too seriously. Brennen has a strong passion for digital media, marketing and communications. He believes in pushing himself and the people around him to their potential and their purpose in God. His passion from God began in the womb as his mother read scriptures to him. He is engaged to his lovely fiancé, Cat Marie, a native of Rochester, NY, and is passionate about his work in serving nonprofits, entrepreneurs, communities of worship and startup companies. Brennen is the owner of Little Rock based communications and marketing firm, Pur Pro Productions. He has over eight years of experience helping individuals and small businesses tell their story through branding and media marketing. He assists clients by reviewing their past, examining their present and exploring their future needs as it relates to helping them communicate their unique story to their unique target market via media communications. He received his Associates of Science in Business from Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock, AR and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He is currently seeking his Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Along with owning his own business, Mr. Boose works as a ministry intern for White Memorial United Methodist Church. His work is centered around launching their new branding focus by working with the current church membership to better develop their strategies in communicating their story. He also has served as the Communication Co-Chair for Black Methodist for Church Renewal (BMCR), an ethnic caucus of the United Methodist Church whose purpose is to advocate for Black people within the global connection of the church. His work with BMCR has expanded his voice as a communicator through advocacy and exposing others to the stories to which they may be unfamiliar. He has served as the Chair of the Communications Committee at Theressa Hoover Memorial United Methodist Church in Little Rock. The church has a long history of social action in the Midtown Community of Little Rock and is currently in a redevelopment process. He is in the process of leading the communications committee and the church at large in redefining the church’s media direction and mission.

 

 

Jacob Nolen

Director of Technology, Ext. 311 / Contact Me

Jacob joined the PHUMC staff in 2012 as a full-time employee, but previously worked with the church as a tech consultant and sound engineer for nearly five years. He graduated from Philander Smith College in 2006, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Jacob was previously employed as a graphic designer and IT for Arkansas Flag & Banner. He has been married to his beautiful wife, Kristin for three years and has a beautiful baby girl. Jacob has been playing and recording music since his early teens. He’s also a voracious reader and loves to learn.

Jacob attends to all things technical and serves as the in-house computer administrator. If it lights up, turns on, or makes sound, Jacob is the one to make it work.

 

PHUMC Foundation

 

Bev Villines

Director of PHUMC Foundation, (501) 978-0510 / Contact Me

Bev is responsible for the operations of the PHUMC Foundation as well as Older Adult Ministries. As of June 1, 2017, the Foundation has over $8 million in assets which will support PHUMC long into the future. Earnings are available to fund both special and on-going program activities in Ministry NOW. Older Adult Ministries include Primetimers, programs for active seniors, as well as Helping Hands, Senior Adult Respite Care Program.

 

 

Jennifer Shannon

Jennifer is directs the operations of PHUMC Columbarium and is responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties for the PHUMC Foundation and the Memorial Committee

 

Finance

 

Mark Barr

Director of Finance, Ext. 309 / Contact Me

Mark loves enjoys landscaping, cycling, hiking, camping and his granddaughters. He has been on staff since 2011. Mark was previously employed with Verizon Wireless and Alltel Wireless. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Mark has three children: Caroline, Ainslee, Samuel and two granddaughters: Mary Ava and Evelyn.

Mark manages the overall financial operations, activities, and reporting of PHUMC, the Foundation, CLC, and all other ministries.

 

 

Juanita Daniels

Juanita joined the PHUMC staff in June 2005. She attended Sheridan High School and University of Arkansas at Monticello. Juanita is married to Loyd Daniels and she enjoys Dog Trials (stockdogs) and Rancher (sheep) hunting. She has shown horses in high school and trained dogs in various events from 1976 to present. Juanita loves cooking, hiking, and cycling.

Juanita provides support for the day-to-day financial operations and activities of PHUMC, the Foundation, and all other ministries.

 

 

Theresa Hodge

Theresa has been on staff since 1994. She was previously employed with Youth Home, Inc. and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Theresa has four children: Ryan, Megan, Courtney, and Ben. She enjoys reading, spending time with family, cooking and hiking.

Theresa provides support for the day-to-day financial operations and activities of PHUMC, CLC, and all other ministries.

Pat Dillahunty

Receptionist, Ext. 301 / Contact Me

Pat joined the PHUMC staff in July 2001 after working at the Social Security Administration over 28 years. “What else could I do with a college degree in history?” She loves her family and friends and her favorite pastime is to be with them.

Pat is responsible for greeting members and guests in our Welcome Center and she serves as the primary phone contact for the church. She also maintains the calendar of events for the church.

 

 

Cathy Englade

Cathy has been on staff at PHUMC since 2005. Her dream job was to work in the church! She enjoys loving on her grandchildren and watching movies with her husband.

Cathy is responsible for day-to-day administrative duties and communications for Children & Youth Ministries.

 

 

Virginia Lewis

Administrative Assistant for Membership & Caring Ministries, Ext. 259 / Contact Me

Virginia has been on staff since March 2017. She previously served as Membership Secretary from 1997 – 2001. She has two children, two grandchildren, four dogs, and a cat. She really enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and shopping at flea markets.

Virginia’s job duties include Membership and day-to-day administrative assistant with Caring Ministry.

 

 

Mary Smith

Administrative Assistant for Worship & Arts, Ext. 259 / Contact Me

Mary joined the PHUMC staff in October 2007. She loves all types of music, going to the movies with her friends, loves traveling and says, “When I need an “opera” fix, I’ll go to the Met in New York.” Mary has a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance, Henderson State University and a Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance, Indiana University. She was previously employed at Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts. Mary has never been married, no children, but plenty of nieces and nephews.

Mary is responsible for day-to-day administrative duties for Worship and Arts Ministries. In addition, she coordinates scheduling for Adventures in the Arts Music Academy.

 

Facility, Maintenance, & Custodial Staff

 

Steve Biffle

Director of Facilities & Maintenance, Ext. 333 / Contact Me

Steve joined the PHUMC staff in 2012. He has over 13 years of experience in apartment maintenance. Steve is from California and graduated from Bella Vista High School in Sacramento. He has been married for 12 years and has two children: Nathan & Kaylynn as well as a beautiful golden retriever, Cooper. Steve enjoys riding dirtbikes, street bikes, helping friends and family with home repairs and remodeling, and most of all spending time with family!

Steve is responsible for the general maintenance repairs and upkeep of the facilities as well as supervising the custodial and maintenance staff.
